Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra
The Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra Big Band was created to offer a musical framework for musicians from the local jazz scene. It is a showcase of the Luxembourgish jazz scene with stars invited to collaborate and perform in Luxembourg.
The band was created in 1993 when Ernie Hammes formed the ‘Tribute to Jazz Big Band’ during the 93 edition of the ‘Printemps Musical’. Today, many musicians of the original line-up are still on board, backed-up now by the younger generation. Jitz Jeitz, Laurent Pierre and Steve Greisch are taking care of the day-to-day business.
Today, the Luxembourg Jazz Orchestra can count on a strong line-up able to perform nearly every style of music you can ask of a modern big-band. From old-school swing to hard-bop, we cover the whole musical range of jazz-music and are always seeking new challenges by inviting internationally featured guest-artists from all around the world.
